Richard Hamilton, the English artist who gained a great worldwide recognition and relevance, who never finished his school studies and was one of the most important precursors and promoters of Pop Art, was the founder of Independent Group in London. In 1956 Hamilton presented in the exhibition “This Is Tomorrow” a work which gained great importance as it is considered that predicted the trend that would guide the architecture and composition of households in the following decades, especially in the 1960s and 70s. The work is titled “Just What Is It That Makes Today’s Homes So Different, So Appealing?”. This work was created as a collage of magazine clippings, with a relevant advertising and consumerist content.
